Barbara Grondine, President
Barbara Grondine has been a board member with TPC for 40 years, and has been the board president for the last six years. Her commitment to advancing the cause for homelessness and addiction recovery is how she makes her life. Barbara’s advocacy for the clients of The Psychological Center is demonstrated by the amount of time she has devoted to this cause.
In addition to her work surrounding homelessness and recovery, Barbara is also committed to advancing the cause for public education, having served on the Methuen School Committee for 24 years and being a two-term member of the Greater Lawrence Technical School Committee. She retired as a counselor and school psychologist after working for the North Andover School Department for 27 years.
Barbara currently lives in Methuen with her husband Tom and their four children. Her favorite quote is from the poet Carl Sandburg; “Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have and only you can determine how it will be spent.”
Jennifer Kannan, Clerk
Jennifer Kannan has served on the Board of Directors at The Psychological Center since 2011. She currently works as a realtor for Coco, Early & Associates Real Estate but also serves as the Methuen City Councilor. In the past, Jennifer has served as the Chair of the City Council, the Vice-Chair of the City Council, a member of both the Consolidation and Finance Committees at TPC?? And the secretary of the Forest Lake Association.
A life-long resident of Methuen, Jennifer lives with her husband Bill who owns Kannan & Pricone Plumbing and Heating and is working toward a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
Jennifer believes that we all have a duty in life to help people who cannot otherwise help themselves. Working to help people overcome addiction and with the services that TPC provides allows her to give back to the communities that surround her and the people in the community that truly need help.
Jessica Finocchiaro, Member
Jessica Finocchiaro is a life-long resident of Methuen and Lawrence. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English and American Studies from Roger Williams University and a master’s degree in Government and a Master of Public Administration degree from Suffolk University.
Jessica is a realtor with Century 21 McLennan & Company in Methuen and serves on local community boards such as The Greater Lawrence YWCA and the Merrimack Valley Prevention and Substance Abuse Project, Inc. She has worked with the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health where she focused on increasing prevention and quality of care for those with mental health issues. She has represented Methuen on the Greater Lawrence Technical School Committee since 2013.
Additionally, Jessica serves as the president of a small Boston-based non-profit, Friends of MMHC, Inc., which offers support, hope and recovery to individuals and families affected by mental health issues.

Charlie Manzi, Member
Charles W. Manzi Jr., is a graduate of North Adams State College, where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. He also has recently received a certificate in Drug and Alcohol Counseling from Northern Essex Community College. For the last five years, Charles has worked as a Marketing Specialist for Comfort Home Care VNA in Methuen, as well as per diem as an Addiction Counselor at Serenity at Summit Behavioral Health Detox in Haverhill.
Charles has served on many Boards including the Northern Essex Community College Foundation Board, The Lazarus House Advisory Board, Haverhill Stadium Commission, and the Breakfast Exchange Club of Haverhill. He is married to his wife, Judy Hosford Manzi, and has a 13-year-old daughter. Along with his family, Charles has been a resident in Haverhill for the last 22 years.
Penny Hamel, Member
Penny Hamel is a graduate of Merrimack College where she obtained a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She began her career working in the utility field with Massachusetts Electric and then with Colonial Gas. Her early positions there included being Mass Electric’s first female Lineman and the first female outside sales representative for Colonial Gas.
She is currently the vice president of loan officer development at Salem Five Mortgage Co. Penny is also a past president of the Northeast Builders Association and has been a member of the Board of Directors for the Home Builders Association of Massachusetts. She was the Northeast Realtor Association Business Partner of the Year in 2007 and 2015. She is also a member and past president of the Westford Rotary Club and serves on their board of directors.
Penny is the past chair of the Revenue Committee for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Lowell. She was the sponsor behind bringing Up With People to the Merrimack Valley in 2012 and 2014. She also volunteers for animal rescue groups and on a regular basis fosters Australian Shepherds until they can find their “forever” homes. She has volunteered for several other charities and local organizations. Penny and her husband, Jeff, have two grown children. She resides in Methuen.
